Storm Emergency Supply Kit

These are just a few of the recommended items to include in a basic emergency supply kit:

•  Water- at least a gallon per person per day for several days
• Non-perishable food (at least a 3 day supply)
• A manual can opener
• A battery operated radio, preferable with a tone alert and extra batteries
• Flashlights and extra batteries
• First aid kit
• A whistle to signal for help
• Dust masks or bandanas
• Clothing
• Plastic sheeting and duct tape
• Wrench or pliers for turning off utilities
• Moist towelettes
• Garbage bags
• Plastic ties
• Sleeping bags or blankets
• Local maps
• Hygiene items 
• Any necessary medication
• Books, games, puzzles or other activities 
• Important documents such as copies of insurance policies, identification, and bank account information
• Cash
• A fire extinguisher
• Matches in a waterproof container
